Message from our MP Alison Hume following Saturday 25th October meeting.

I want to thank everyone who came along to my latest 'Ask Alison' event on fracking, 'proppant-squeezing' and Europa Oil and Gas' application to perform the latter in the beautiful village of Burniston.

That 'thank you' is also extended to Richard Parsons, the chairman of Burniston Parish Council, Cllr Derek Bastiman, who represents Scalby and the Coast division on NYC, Cllr Steve Mason of Amotherby and Ampleforth and Castle's Cllr Janet Jefferson who joined me on the top table.

Thanks to Burniston Methodist Church, Frack Free Coastal Communities & Whitby Labour Party Branch for your invaluable help organising today’s event.

It was great to see so many local residents. There were some wonderful questions and really illuminating answers. It was such a constructive event and the strength of feeling in the room, against Europa's plan, was once again evident.

Like so many others, I'm firmly of the belief that 'proppant squeezing' should be included in the government moratorium and ban on fracking. To my mind, if it looks like fracking, talks like fracking and walks like fracking then it probably is fracking.

We will win this campaign!

Thank you to the 70 attendees of our quiz night 22nd August - we raised over £700 towards our campaign funds.
