No 8 URGENT - OBJECTIONS ARE MISSING - PLEASE CHECK YOURS!

In a phone call to Amy Taylor (from NYC planning department) today, we asked why so many objections seem to be missing off the planning portal. She was not aware of the missing emailed representations but checked with her team. They say some emails were diverted to spam/junk folder - and their system will not let them retrieve them. They don’t know how many. Furthermore, we have had reports from people that their objections appeared on the site but subsequently disappeared. We need to check if this is also an issue.

NOTE: everyone should have received acknowledgement that their objection has been received. If you have not please let us know.

***PLEASE CHECK your OBJECTION is on the planning portal & message us if you CANNOT see it by doing the following. ***

CLICK HERE then, then click on the 'Documents' tab, scroll down to ***PUBLIC REPRESENTATIONS***, and your objection will be called YYMMDD_YOURNAME where YYMMDD is the date you submitted the objection. Note that NYC has only managed to upload objections up to 16th April as of today, so if your objection is after that date you will have to wait before you check.

NYC EXTENDS THE FINAL DATE FOR OBJECTIONS

NYC have extended the deadline for objecting due to the various issues that have beset the planning portal. Now the deadline is the end of April, although NYC have not ruled out that objections received after this will also be accepted.  So you are not too late to send in your objections!  Click here to see the leaflet to help you object.

To object by email write to planning.control@northyorks.gov.uk quoting the application reference NY/2025/0030/ENV. You must include your name and address.

THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS and SUPPORTERS and

FRIENDS OF THE EARTH

The steering committee would like to send a HUGE thank you to all our members and supporters. Since we first heard of Europa's intentions to build a fracking site in Burniston a few months ago, we have achieved so much. With support from Simon Bowens - regional campaign co-ordinator for Friends of the Earth, we have come together, galvanised ourselves, educated ourselves, dedicated ourselves, created a website, Facebook , Instagram, and set up our FoE Action Network group (including a signup, message and donation pages).

We have organised full meetings, drop ins, a rally, a march, a Spring Fayre, 2 massive leaflet drops, dressed as rabbits and baked cakes! We have had help from a BAFTA nominated film maker and a professional graphic designer. All in a bid to spread the news about Europa's plans to the local communities and to help people to object.

SAVE THE DAY We will be organising a full meeting on Thursday 12th June to update everyone and to let you know what comes next.

But just looking at some achievements (why not?)

  • Up to 17th April, there were 1216 Objection vs 4 in Support. (who knows how many are missing?) . The deadline has been extended, and NYC are days behind uploading them - so this is an underestimation.

  • We have raised £5139.70 which is to be paid to consultants (planning and traffic) to help us make our objection, to order leaflets, to pay for meeting rooms etc etc.

  • We have read all the reports from Europa and where we know there are huge inaccuracies we have instigated our own reports. (ecology, bird study, traffic etc)

  • We have been liaising with Burniston Parish Council, Cloughton Parish Council, and Newby and Scalby Town Councils (who, by the way, all voted strongly to oppose Europa's plans).

We still need £3625 to pay for extra work to be carried out by Katie Atkinson - planning consultant - who has been invaluable to our group. To speak to us about anything, or to sign up, please contact us here. If you wish to support us you can make a donation here.

And here are a few happy times!
