URGENT - PLEASE WRITE TO 'CALL IT IN'

​

After reading the shockingly inaccurate recommendation by the planner for the councillors to to ACCEPT the proposals, Frack Free Coastal Communities received some advice regarding our next actions. As a result we have asked the Secretary of State to 'CALL IT IN'.

The Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government has the power to take over (‘call in’) planning applications rather than letting the local authority decide. The secretary of state will normally only do this if the application conflicts with national policy in important ways, or is nationally significant.

We have several valid grounds to request a call in. In your letter to request a Call In, you must state valid reasons to do so. Here are two examples of call in requests that have been written so far. Please try to write yours in your own words.

WRITE TO DEFER THE DECISION

We have also been writing to NYC to defer the decision. This on the grounds that the National Planning Policy Framework document, which is under consultation until March, will stop giving weight to oil and gas planning application (which the EOG planning application relies on heavily), the upcoming law changes, and the response from the governmnent to our petition saying this is under review. There are over 90 requests to defer on the planning portal - you can look at them here (and click Documents tab) under ****CORRESPONDENCE - REQUESTS TO DEFER****. You can write an email to planning.control@northyorks.gov.uk and copy (cc) David.Walker@northyorks.gov.uk (head of planning) and cllr.andy.paraskos@northyorks.gov.uk (Chair of the Strategic Planning Committee). SUMARY OF MEETINGS LAST WEEK

After our very successful (and fun) banner making workshop on 24th Jan, thank you to Weald Action Group for sending us loads of banners and pacards. we had a big public campaign update meeting on 27th Jan. We were delighted with the support we received.  Chris Garforth hosted the meeting, John Atkinson of Frack Free Scarborough spoke. Alison Hume (who was unable to attend) sent a message of support, Simon Bowens from Friends of the Earth gave an inspiring speech about policy changes at national level and pledging their continued support. Burniston Parish Council Chair Richard Parsons spoke. North Yorkshire Councillor Steve Mason spoke about the ongoing work at parliamentary level to ban ALL FRACKING as promised by Ed Miliband. FFCC Consultant Planner Katie Atkinson answered many questions to help our understanding of planning law. HERE IS THE PRESENTATION FOR THE MEETING ON TUESDAY
