No 28 - WE NEED HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE TO ATTEND TO SHOW THE OPPOSITION TO THIS SCHEME.

North Yorkshire Council announced it's strategic planning committee will meet at Scarborough Town Hall on 30th Jan at 1:30.
Friends of the Earth, local councils and residents have been writing to NYC to ask for a delay or deferral since a) Cllr Crane has not had a response from the government asking for advice, b) Ed Miliband vowed to stop ALL FRACKING and there is expected to be new Legislation in Spring 2026, and c) the new draft National Planning Policy Framework - which is under consultation until March 10th, proposes to remove the weight given to mineral extraction benefits for oil and gas. This is the Coast report.

Drill or Drop reports that Europa has not carried out a 3D seismic study yet - it is still looking for an investor to pay for that! Local residents and Burniston Parish Council say they do not want to be the guineapigs. Even so, it was reported by Drill or Drop that Europa's license, due to expire in March 2026, has been extended!

It is not just Burniston! Drill or Drop reports there are planning applications from O&G companies at South Ebberston and Foxholes. These are other areas under threat in the North of England. All waiting eagerly to see how this application will go - and if the loophole (low volume fracking) will work for them!
