No 16. PLEASE OBJECT TO EUROPA'S APPLICATION FOR PERMITS TO THE ENVIRONMENT AGENCY

Drill or Drop reported that Europa has applied for several permits required for their proposed drilling operation in Burniston. Read it here. Various permits have been applied for.
PLEASE OBJECT. Click here for instructions and good reasons to object.
The closing date for objections is currently 13th August - so not much time. However, due to missing documentation, at least 2 requests for an extension have been submitted. We are still going through the piles of documentation connected with these applications and will be sending out more reasons to object later - there are many.
The Environment Agency has already objected to Europa's planning application to NYC . See this article from Drill or Drop for more information.

Burniston gas plan poses “unacceptable risk to groundwater” – regulator
Several shocking facts have emerged in the detail which are either not mentioned or are completely different to what was said in the planning application. For example, they are applying to burn more than 10 tonnes of gas using a flare PER DAY. They would like to have many wells, not just one. There may be crude oil waste by product. The boreholes will not have protective coating inside them during the assessment stage - meaning that the water table/aquifers will not be protected from the fluids being pushed down the boreholes.
We will be compiling a list of 'discrepancies' which NYC should be made aware of before deciding on the planning application. Watch this space.

YORK TOWN COUNCIL JOIN OTHER LOCAL COUNCILS IN REJECTING THE APPICATION
York Town Council have voted to reject Europa's planning application. They join Burniston, Cloughton, Newby&Scalby, and Scarborough local councils as well as our MP Alison Hume and the York and North Yorkshire Mayor David Skaith.

MISINFORMATION - AN UPDATE - IT IS STILL POSSIBLE TO OBJECT
The BBC made a mistake on it's Look North program at 8:00am on 21st July. They had mistakenly thought that Scarborough Town Council's vote to object to the planning application meant that the whole application was refused. However, SBC does not decide on the planning application, North Yorkshire Council will decide. NYC's decision has not taken place yet. After we alerted the BBC to their mistake they corrected themselves at 9:00. However, this has caused major confusion and we are still meeting people who believe the drill site and fracking in Burniston will now not take place.
So please let us use this as another opportunity to let you know the planning decision has not yet taken place and you can still OBJECT to the application and that NYC have not yet even planned a meeting to discuss this planning application.
