Protect the North Yorkshire Heritage Coastline from fracking!
Planning meeting to take place Friday 24th April 2026
at 1pm at Scarborough Town Hall.

This video shows the extent of the fragility of the cliffs at Burniston, North Scarborough and along the Heritage Coast, including parts of the newly named King Charles III England Coast Path.
The recent cliff slip is just a few hundred meters from the proposed site.

Our beautiful North Yorkshire heritage coastline near Scarborough is in grave danger of being fracked for gas and turned into the UK’s biggest onshore gas field.
Fossil Fuel company Europa oil and gas have put in an application to the North Yorkshire council to build a huge 38 metre high drilling rig and use a process called ‘Proppant Squeeze’ to drill for gas. This is essentially fracking, but using smaller quantities of liquid in order to bypass the UK’s anti-fracking laws. It’s been called ‘fracking by the back door’.
If the application is approved, Europa could potentially be drilling/fracking in the area for the next 20 years. This would be devastating to the local environment, which is one of the most beautiful and unspoilt in the UK, as well as to the wider climate.
